Get Rush Limbaugh
Out of Missoula
March 10th - 42 Sponsors Have Pulled Their Ads!
1812 Have Signed Our Petition and 2360 Visited This Site!
David Friend, Carbonite CEO, pulled his company's ads from the Limbaugh show. It cost them money but he has two daughters Sandra Fluke's age.

We all deserve a world free of bullies.
We believe Rush Limbaugh is a bully. His hate-filled tantrums are offensive to many Missoulians. We all have free speech rights and we choose to use them to speak out against bullies and hate.
My name is Dave Chrismon. My wife Nancy and I have lived in Missoula for 20 years. We have a daughter at Georgetown University (that's her on the fish). In late February Rush Limbaugh attacked a Georgetown law student for 3 days. He called her very nasty names and used his powerful position to bully her and intimidate anyone who might speak out like she did. In a few years it might be our daughter trying to speak out on something she believes in. We don't want anyone to have to face that kind of bullying. We created a petition titled "KGVO- Take Rush Limbaugh Off the Air in Missoula" and this website. We also created the advertiser lists and update the site. We send occasional update emails to the 1750 people who signed the petition. Over 1300 of these folks are from Montana.
If you love Missoula and our great state please add your name and comments to our petition click here. The first part of the petition was delivered on April 12, 2012. The station representatives were nice but had a lot of reasons why the show can't be removed - too many people like Rush, they have to honor the contract, etc. We know that at least two stations have dropped the show. If they can do it we think KGVO can too!

Why This is Important

Sandra Fluke, law student at Georgetown University
Do you have a daughter? Doesn't she deserve respect? Don't all people deserve respect? Rush Limbaugh does not believe they do. In the church of Rush Limbaugh winning is the only goal. And what are the rules of the game? The rules are that he can say whatever he wants and everyone else has to be nice and fair and honest. But not him and not his followers. He teaches his "dittoheads" to lie, to mock the weak, to call names and throw mud. He is training people to be bullies and blind followers. He has gone too far and people all over the country are speaking up against him. It's time to push back. It's time to stand up and say, "We don't want Rush Limbaugh on the air in our community." All it will take is for enough of us to clearly tell the supporters of this bully that it matters to us. We know who they are and we don't think they should support this kind of programming.
What is Bullying?
"Attacking people by casting aspersions on some essential aspect of their being - their gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. - is as damaging as throwing stones or firing weapons. Attacking people who exercise their rights as citizens by casting apersions on their essential selves is bullying, and bullying instills crippling shame and fear. Fear and shame distort democracy. Attacking a person's essence is not the same thing as responsibly exercising free speech by criticizing a specific behavior or challenging an opinion or a policy."

Letter to Advertisers
We are sending a letter like this to advertisers and using it to guide our conversations with them.
Your organization’s name and contact information has been listed on our website www.rushoutofmissoula.com as an advertiser on the Rush Limbaugh program in Missoula. Your organization is listed because an ad for your business ran on (date). We are encouraging people to communicate with you about their feelings in a respectful way.
We hope you will consider removing your ads from this program. You may have bought a package of ads. Or, nonprofits may have PSA’s running. You can have your ad or PSA package continue but without having your organization connected to this very risky and offensive broadcast. Just ask the folks you bought your ads from or arranged your PSA with to pull your ads from this show so you can stay out this. We appreciate KGVO continuing to act fairly and allow you to have this choice. Rush Limbaugh caused this problem not the advertisers or the audience.
We hope you will agree with us that the only completely neutral position is to not have ads on this show. We are not asking you to donate to a cause you don’t believe in. We are not asking you to take away anyone’s Constitutional rights. We are only asking you to withdraw from the controversy. That is a perfectly good decision and it is your right to do it.
We would like our website to be up to date. If you do pull your ads from the Rush Limbaugh Show on all local stations please let us know and we will remove your organization's name from our site. As long as you do not choose to start advertising on the show again we won't mention your group has ever been connected to the Limbaugh show. There is a “Contact Us” form on the website or you can send an email to rushoutofmissoula@gmail.com If you have any questions about this please ask.
My wife and I have a daughter going to college at Georgetown University. Earlier this year, Rush Limbaugh attacked a Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke, for three days calling her a slut and a prostitute. He said she should post films of herself having sex on the internet. All she had done was testify before a Senate committee. We took this personally. What if our daughter was in that position in a few years? Nobody should ever have to put up with such bullying and intimidation. We want it to stop in Missoula.
Over 1750 people have signed our petition to get Rush Limbaugh off the air in Missoula.
We believe that Rush Limbaugh is a bully with a history of abusing, demeaning and lying about the weak and powerless. We believe he has no boundaries or standards. He has gone way outside what we feel is acceptable in our community, and therefore he needs to be dropped from the radio in Missoula. Dropping your ads doesn't mean you agree with us. It just means you don't want to be a part of the controversy.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes. We are great supporters of local businesses, local nonprofits and free speech. We don’t want to cause extra work for you but we believe that Rush Limbaugh has stepped way, way over the line. He shouldn’t have a place on our local radio.
Thank you for your time.
